But, what is “Dapper Day”? A lovely excuse to dress up and enjoy the Disney Parks in vintage style!
As per Dapper Day’s website’s definition, “Dapper Day Events celebrate the tradition of wanting to look one's best while out in public, and embraces the great social interaction that results when every outfit welcomes a compliment.”
Most guests treat it as a day to wear vintage pieces that resemble what one would wear to the parks back in the late 50’s and early 60’s when Disneyland had just opened it’s gates. Some even go as far back as the 20’s. I definitely saw a few flappers that day.
It was such fun walking around the parks, observing everyone’s outfits, and catching the eyes of guests utterly confused about why everyone was dressed so fancy on a Sunday in February.
After spending so much time getting ready, I felt so silly jumping on California Screamin’ only to discover that my hair stayed perfectly coiffed throughout the entire ride experience.
There are other unofficial Disney events held throughout the year, but Dapper Day by far is my favorite.
